Why Am I Always So Reactive?
Traumatic experiences can physically rewire how your brain processes the event(s). The mental and emotional distress that results can be more debilitating and life altering than even severe physical injury.
Maybe you remember exactly what happened but, maybe you don’t.
Have you gotten really good at pushing your emotions down by staying busy all the time or taking care of everyone else? Maybe you find your mood changes quickly and you have emotional outbursts that are difficult to control. Do you find yourself wondering how something that happened so long ago can still be affecting you today?
Are you constantly telling yourself, "It wasn’t that bad”?
The hardest part may be wondering “Why can’t I just move past this?”

Your Reactions Do Make Sense
Trauma can change the way we see ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us. Sometimes our minds understand that we're safe, but our bodies haven't caught up yet.
You may find yourself reacting in ways you don't fully understand:
-people-pleasing
-avoiding conflict
-constantly needing reassurance
- always needing to be in control
-feeling overwhelmed
-shutting down when things become too much
There is nothing wrong with responding this way. Often, these are the behaviors that helped you get through something that felt impossible at the time.

Therapy can help you understand these patterns without judgment
We'll Start Where You Are
Trauma Therapy doesn't have to mean sitting in a room repeatedly talking about the worst things that have happened to you.
Together, we'll work to make sense of what you've experienced and how those experiences may still be affecting you today.
Let's slow things down.
We may work through your thoughts, emotions, relationships, body, and nervous system. You may find yourself challenging the beliefs you've developed along the way.
You don't have to know exactly what you need for us to begin your journey of healing.
Let's figure that out together.

Finding Your Way Back to Yourself
Healing trauma isn't just about feeling less anxious or less triggered. It's about something deeper. Healing is confidently trusting in yourself again. It's being able to identify what you need and knowing it’s okay to ask for it. Healing is being confident in setting boundaries, not feeling guilty that you set them. Healing is feeling safe enough to truly rest. It's understanding your reactions and not being controlled by them.
Sometimes, healing is asking: “Who am I underneath everything I've had to do to survive?” That's where some of the most meaningful work can begin. There is hope for something different
What happened to you still matters. But it doesn't have to define you.
You can heal without forgetting. You can grow without being limited by old, no longer needed survival techniques. You can learn to be more connected to yourself, your relationships, and your life.
If you're ready, I'd be honored to walk alongside you as you begin to make sense of your responses to what you've been through.

You don't have to have it all figured out. You just have to be willing to start.
